On Friday March 20 Cassandra gold mine workers in Halkidiki are expected to go on strike in protest of government’s ambiguous attitude towards the investment.
Furthermore, during a press conference the workers declared that they will continue working based on “officials statements, documents of the Greek state and court decisions”, while at the same time requested of the government to “examine the benefits” for Halkidiki and its environment.
In conclusion the Cassandra gold mine workers stressed the impact that such an action may have on local market, since the majority of the 1.986 employees are local citizens.
