The 10th Alexander the Great International Marathon commenced in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on April 5. This year’s events had a 40% increase in participation from 2014 with an extra 1,500 spots added by organizers.

More than 20,000 participants gathered in the region for races as well as other parallel events despite the wet weather.

The 10km race kicked off at the Municipal Stadium of Ambelokipi, in east Thessaloniki, and finished at the iconic White Tower, but there are also 5km routes and other special races.
