In rural China, exotic funeral strippers are all the rage. The concept is to give the deceased a proper send off. The Chinese government, however, wants to get strippers off grave sites, feeling that numerous “obscene” incidents had occurred, such as one involving six women who were hired to perform at a funeral attended by children.
Another problem is that nudity is prohibited in China. The idea of the strip show however is to draw crowds as the Chinese believe that respect for the dead is measured in crowd size. Furthermore, there is a belief that the larger the size of the funeral gathering the greater a person’s afterlife success will be.
“I felt something wasn’t right. The performance crossed the line,” one funeral attendee told CNN.
