Government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis told weekly Agora newspaper on Saturday that the payment of wages and pensions will take priority over the repayment of debt installments to creditors. He added that he was optimistic concerning negotiations between Greece and its creditors.
Sakellaridis said there was no problem in the payment of wages and pensions and stated that the banking system is stable.
He said that any agreement that runs opposite to SYRIZA’s pre-election pledges would be given to the people to decide. “There is no chance the government will take action without the popular will,” he said.
