How to vote in the Greek referendum: Users guide

Confused about how to vote? No worries! Proto Thema makes it easy

Voters: 

Greek citizens over the age  of 18 who are registered on Greece’s electoral rolls.

Excluded from the process are

a) people deprived of their judicial rights for any reason whatsoever

b) people who are serving a sentence under the civil or military penal code and whose democratic rights have been temporarily suspended

What voters need to have with them: 

To be eligible to take part in the procedure, citizens need to have any ONE of the following:

* police identification

* temporary official confirmation that they can vote

* Greek passport that has not expired

* drivers license that has not expired

* social security health card in effect

Ballot paper: 

There will be two sheets. The first has the referendum question which is:

The Greek people are asked to decide with their vote whether to accept the outline of the agreement submitted by the European Union, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund at the Eurogroup of 25/06/15 and is made up of two parts which constitute their unified proposal:

The first document is entitled: Reforms for the completion of the current program and beyond and the second is Preliminary Debt Sustainability Analysis.

The other sheet of paper has the answer to the question in a box where they will decide:

Whichever citizens reject the proposal by the three institutions vote: Not Approved / NO

Whichever citizens agree with the proposal by the three institutions vote: Approved /YES

For a vote to be valid:

Voters will have to put a cross in the correct box that corresponds with a “yes” or a “no” (make sure that the cross is + and not x as the vote would be rendered invalid).

For the process to be rendered valid there would need to be over 40% of the population eligible to vote taking part in the referendum.

Times:

The voting begins at 7 a.m. and runs through to 7 p.m.

Results: 

Results will be announced by 9 p.m.
