The national football team of Micronesia, a cluster of small islands in the Pacific Ocean lost 38-0 to Fiji Islands for the Pacific Games Pacific region. Yes, you heard right, 38-0! That works out one goal every 2.5 minutes. The side’s coach said he was pretty pleased with his team’s performance in the second half, where they managed to concede only (!!) 17 goals. Despite this ‘feat’ the score will not go down in the Guinness Book of Records as the heaviest loss in a football match, as Micronesia is not officially recognized by the international body FIFA. That title still belongs to American Samoa, who lost to Australia 32-0!!
