Greece’s national drug agency (EOF) announced on Wednesday it would temporary ban the export of dozens of pharmaceuticals to the EU and third countries in an effort to avert a possible shortage caused by capital controls imposed on Greeks banks for the past 3 weeks. The agency said a ban on 73 drugs was an emergency measure to protect public health. “This decision has immediate effect, and while it remains in force, all stockpiling of these products is prohibited”, the statement said. The list includes drugs for diabetes, asthma, vaccines for polio, hepatitis and chicken pox.
