Speaking to French site ‘Mediapart’, former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis revealed that Alexis Tsipras and himself were pledging ‘every day’ that if a 3rd bailout plan was forced upon the Greek government they would both resign immediately. “He finally opted to back down”, Varoufakis added, without offering any details as to why. The radical Marxist claimed that after the April 27 EU Summit in Riga, it had become apparent to him that the process of his ‘character dismantling’ had started. Varoufakis was also critical of French President Francois Hollande, saying that while he was present during the meetings he played no role. As for his now infamous Plan B, he insisted that there was nothing sinister or unreasonable about it, pointing out it was a way to ‘punish those who were punishing Greece’.
