Economy Minister George Stathakis is believed to be the minister who did not declare a million euros worth of assets to the auditors of Greek Parliament for the last three years. The same sources state that prior to the September 20 elections, he had tried to “tidy” up his assets declaration with an additional statement.
It is unknown why Stathakis did not declare the sum in previous years prior to accepting his post as minister.
Stathakis cautioned patience when asked about the problem with his declaration. “Be patient, everything will be made clear in a week. I cannot, according to the law, make a statement prior to the completion of the audit,” he said.
