Commissioner for Economic Affairs Pierre Moscovici expressed his hope that the IMF will participate in the Greek program underlining that “IMF is an asset”.

Speaking to Greek journalists, Mr. Moscovici said that the IMF is an essential factor of security and trust and its participation is part of the agreement, while he appeared optimist on the Greek program’s evaluation saying that it will be completed by the end of January 2016 and then the Greek debt debate will begin.

Mr. Moscovici said, though, that Greece does not need a debt relief or debt restructuring, but a broader discussion should be held as far as its service is concerned. According to the EU Commissioner, Greece has lost a lot of time during the past months, but now it has realized that reform implementation is essential for modernizing its economy.

He also ruled out any possibility to link the refugee crisis with the social security issue or a possible program relaxation.

Commissioner Moscovici concluded saying that economic growth will return to Greece in the second half of 2016 joking that he would like to see Greece being developed if he visited the country for his honeymoon.
