The Greek Social Health Insurance Fund (EOPPY) is under pressure to change costs of medical exams or else there is a threat that Greece will not receive its 1-bn-euro bailout fund even though lawmakers voted through the set of 13 prior actions called for by the country’s lenders.
Until late on Friday, the Ministry of Health failed to issue a relevent decision on the matter as it had been asked to do by the Euro Working Group on Thursday so that the bailout tranche could be deposited on Monday.
Government sources state that negotiations will continue through the weekend. Sources state that lenders want a reduction of 40% to current prices, but the health officials of Greece are bargaining for lower reductions. Furthermore, a decision for a claw back mechanism to hospital expenditure has already been signed.
