MTV Greece is no more after seven years on the air.  “Radiotileoptikes Epikirisis” (Radio Television Businesses) that held the rights to MTV has ended its cooperation with Viacom due to financial difficulties.

Back in 2008, there was a huge party that included an REM concert at the Panathinaic stadium marking the start of the MTV era in Greece. Later Nickelodeon children’s TV channel followed with high ratings.

Unfortunately, despite the popularity of both, difficulties in gaining commercial has led to financial difficulties resulting in the closure of the popular music channel.
