Tractor blockade continues to gridlock Greece on Friday with noon showdown (vid)

Farmers are amping the pressure on the government in the hopes that it will curb its social security reforms

Newsroom January 22 10:44

Farmers are continuing to intermittently block arterial roads across the Greek national highway in an effort to place pressure on the Greek Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government that is planning to make social security changes that will impact the agricultural sector.

Central roads at Tempi in Thessaly, Kastro at Viotia and at the customs of Kastanies and Kipous. At the same time, farmers will block the Malgara region and roads leading to the Egnatia Highway at Kerdyllia in Northern Greece. More symbolic blocks are to take place at Niseli Alexandreia whereas the national Thessaloniki-Edessa highway will remain closed around the area of Halkidona.

At noon on Saturday, there will be blocks at Tempi.
