The National Theater of Greece’s decision to stage a play based on the book by November 17 terrorist Savvas Xiros on the minutes of the hearings in the court case against him has prompted public outrage. The work, “Nash Equilibrium”, is based on the strategies of the two sides as seen during the trial and outlined in the convicted terrorist’s own book, “That Day – 1560 hours in intensive care – A testimony of our own Guadanamo”. The play’s title is borrowed from game theory and the work, adapted for the stage by Pigi Dimitrakopoulou, was deemed to be appropriate for the state theater’s experimental stage.
The play purportedly shows the “codes of value, justice and terrorism in modern Greek history” but it has come under fire from victims of the terrorist group and is viewed as glorifying the activities of a known criminal.
