In an attempt to shine a harsh light on child marriages which are legal in many countries around the world, YouTuber Coby Persin conducted a social experiment to see how people in New York would react to the sight of a child bride and her older groom.

The video shows the two actors, one plays a 65-year-old groom and the other his 12-year-old bride, in Times Square taking pictures while Coby plays their photographer and a hidden camera captures the reactions of the people.

“Where is your mom?,” a woman asks the young girl, while the man tries to explain he has her parents’ permission to marry her making the woman more angry. “What are you doing with someone her age?,” she said.

More people are asking the man similar questions and some even threaten to call the police, while one man was so angry that security had to intervene and calm him down.

“New Yorker’s didn’t stand for a child getting married to an older man, and neither should anywhere else in the world be ok with it!” says the video.
