Violent clashes broke out between Turkish police and protesters in Constantinople Friday, when demonstrators were marching to mark the 2 year anniversary of the death of a 15-year old boy in anti-government demonstrations. The march was initially orderly when the Turkish police released tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in the protesters pelting rocks and cocktail molotov at the police. The clashes took place at the Okmeydani district with police arresting at least three demonstrators. A 15-year old named Berkin Elvan had been fatally injured in the head by Turkish security forces in 2013 from a tear gas canister while he had left his house to guy bread during a police operation against anti-Erdogan demonstrations. Taksim Solidarity organised around 200 protesters and escorted the victim’s family to the grave of Elvan demanding answers from the government over the circumstances of his death. Turkish leader Erdogan has been cracking down harsh on protests against his government.
