Some people are terrified of dolls. It could be their experience with some horror movies like ‘Child’s Play’ with the horrifying chucky chasing after its victims, or something else. But if you like horror stories keep reading. A few kilometres from Mexico City lies La Isla de las Munecas, the Island of Dolls, where thousands of dolls hang from trees. The island is literally a place of horror. According to a local legend, the caretaker of the island, named Don Julian Santana, who had moved to the island after abandoning his family found a drowned body of a young girl with her doll. He believed the girl’s spirit haunted the island, and wanting to appease her spirit he gathered dolls from the canal and hung them an trees every where. The deteriorated dolls can still be found today ‘haunting’ the island for however dares visit. Let’s go on a journey, if you are not scarred.
