The French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” arrived early on Thursday morning at the Souda naval base, in Chania, at a time marked by increased geopolitical activity in the Eastern Mediterranean.

According to information from zarpanews.gr, Europe’s largest warship is expected to remain at the base for a total of six days, until Holy Tuesday, April 7.

The aircraft carrier stands out for its size and capabilities, as it has a length of 260 meters, a width of 64 meters, and a height of 75 meters, while its displacement reaches 42,500 tons. Hundreds of crew members serve on board, including sailors, marines, and personnel of the French naval aviation.
