European Commission relocation plan an utter failure so far, according to reality

Plan to be realised in 100 years under current rate of refugee relocation

Newsroom March 16 03:43

The European Commission’s plan for a fair distribution of refugees across EU countries has so far proven a complete failure, according to data released. The ambitious EC plan hammered out in 2015 to relocate 160,000 refugees from Italy and Greece to the rest of the European countries has effectively not even taken off. After six months of the refugee agreement being signed by the EU25 members, only 15 countries have accepted a mere 937 refugees from Italy and Greece! the extent of the Commission’s failed intitiative can been seen by the fact that France took in only 242 refugees (the highest intake) from Greece, Finland 77, Portugal 84 from Greece and 64 from Italy, and Germany received 37 refugees from Greece and 20 from Italy. The Visegrad countries (Czech republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) did not taken in even one refugee. If this rate of absorption continues then the plan will have succeeded in 100 years! In the wake of the lack of absorption progress, Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulosn reminded that EU countries signed onto the refugee agreement are legally bound to follow through with their commitment to the plan they agreed to. Avramopoulos stressed that all EU member-states should immediately fulfill their responsibilities in light of the humanitarian crisis Greece was facing. According to the Commission’s estimates, if the set targets of the relocation plan are to be met then at least 6,000 relocations of refugees have to take place each month.
