US President Barrack Obama has met with Cuba’s President Raul Castro in Havana in a historic trip to the small country. It is the first time since Fidel Castro toppled General Fulgencio Batista in 1959 and the cold an American head of state has visited his Cuban counterpart. The two Presidents met in private at the Palace of the Revolution where they discussed matters of bilateral interest to both countries. According to US sources they talked about their families during the first minutes of their meeting. The US President had arrived earlier at the memorial to Jose Marti in Havana, dedicated to the revolutionary poet who fought for the independence of Cuba from the Spanish Empire and placed a wreath at the site. It is unclear whether a joint press conference will be held.
