71 Christians were killed in the capital city of the Punjab province Lahore, in Pakistan on Easter Sunday, after a bomb exploded at a park. According to sources, a splinter group of the Taliban claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks who were specifically targeting Christians. Authorities put the number of victims at 71 and those injured at 300. The suicide bomber had added ball bearings to the explosive device to maximise the deadly impact. Most of the victims were women and children, with some eyewitness saying there were pools of blood and body parts scattered across the site of the attack. Others said the children were screaming and a stampede occurred after the blasts with children separated from their mothers and ruining in all directions to save themselves. Local media broadcast the terrorist’s identity without any confirmation by other sources that he is indeed the attacker. The head of the Taliban faction said that they group wanted to send a message to the governor of the Punjab province that he could not stop the attacks against the Christians, saying that the suicide attacks would continue.
