Locals from around the Idomeni area, where 13,000 refugees and illegal immigrants have been trapped for some months now, held a protest Saturday against the state authorities for failing to evacuate the area. The locals blocked the Axios Bridge on the side of the Idomeni direction. Mayor of Peonia Christos Goudenoudis said it was a symbolic protest by the local community stressing that indignation does not only apply for the refugees but for the farmers who are unable to cultivate their lands. He went on to express concerns of possible clashes between the local residents and the refugees.
