Greek police cleared the railway tracks near the Idomeni refugee camp, Monday, April 18 after refugees and illegal migrants had  occupied the tracks for 30 days. Police asked the occupying refugees and illegal migrants, who were protesting against the closing of the Greek-FYROM borders, to fold their tents and leave the area early on Monday. According to police reports, the operation was carried out in a calm and peaceful manner. Meanwhile, the Hellenic Centre for Disease Control & Prevention (KEEKPNO) has raised the alarm of serious health risks due to the unsanitary conditions at the Idomeni camp. Outbreaks of mange and other skin diseases have been reported, while cases of gastro-enteritis and poisonings are widespread among the refugees at the camp, as food and water are exposed to the rising temperatures. KEELPNO handed out pamphlets to the refugees informing them of the health dangers at the camp and urging them to move to organised hotspots.
