The MPs of SYRIZA and ANEL are determined to vote for salary and pension cuts and unleash a new tax wave that will bring Greek society to its knees.
In the meantime, thousands of people gathered to protest against the social security and tax bill outside the parliament on Sunday. The bills proposed by the government will deepen economic crisis, since they provide pension cuts and huge tax hikes.
The social security bill provides great cuts for more than 400,000 new pensioners and cuts in supplementary pensions, as well as increase in contributions for self-employed and farmers.
Moreover, the tax bill provides, among others, VAT hike at 24%, tax hike on fuel, increase in excise taxes on tobacco and ENFIA tax, consumption tax on coffee and electronic cigarettes, and new tax rates.
