The Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers in the White House, Jason Furman, said the top priority at this stage was a restructuring of the Greek debt, in an interview to German newspaper ‘Handelsblatt’. Furman underlined it was imperative to address the issue of the Greek debt in order offer permanent solutions to the problems. ‘Currently restructuring the Greek debt is the most important issue. Without is there will be no solution to the problems’, he told Handelsblatt. Furman continued by urging Athens to proceed with the necessary economic reforms and adopt responsible fiscal policies. On the issue of a possible ‘Brexit’, he warned that such an event would not only negatively affect the EU but the global economy.
