Mikis Theodorakis music ‘floods’ German city of Darmstadt

Maria Farantouri performs both nights

The music of world renowned composer Mikis Theodorakis was the focus of the cultural life in the German city of Darmstadt for two days on June 5 and 6 last week. The two-day musical event was organised by the Greek community of Darmstadt and the Greek student’s association of the city at the Darmstatium concert hall, which was packed with 1,600 people. On Sunday, June 5 the orchestral version of the oratorio ‘Canto General’ was performed by soloists Maria Farantouri and Petros Pandis, while Monday’s event saw Maria Farantouri do a recital accompanied by German composer and musician Gerhard Folkerts.
