Employees Unions of Greece’s two largest ports, Piraeus Port Authorities (OLP) and Thessaloniki Port Authority (OLTH) announced they would go on a 48 strike creating disruptions to the cargo and container operations. Meanwhile, the cruise liner docking at the port of Piraeus is running smoothly after the dockworkers suspended their strike, but their colleagues in the port of Thessaloniki renewed theirs (24-hour strike from Wednesday 12 noon till Thursday 12 noon). The main problems concern the smooth operations of cargo loading in both ports as the employees are part of the unions that have gone on strike. Currently there are 2,500 cars ready for transport that are ‘trapped’ in the OLP terminal due to the strike.
