ND leader Mitsotakis says elections the only way forward for Greece

We are dealing with political amoralists, he said

Newsroom July 14 01:24

Leader of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said his party was the safest path for the country rid itself from the worst government in the recent past, during his speech at his party’s parliamentary group, Thursday. Mitsotakis underline that this government had demonstrated a monumental ineptitude in implementing the memorandum it had signed on to and in dealing with the refugee crisis. He dubbed the sudden decision by the government to push for the adoption of a proportional representation electoral system a ploy that proved they were politically amoral. ‘We have a duty to react in unison as a political system, we are up against political amoralists’, he pointed out. He claimed proportional representation was contrary to common sense, adding it was imperative the proposed draft bill did not receive the needed 200 votes when it came to the plenary session in parliament. Mitsotakis blasted the government t for trying to manipulate and control the media and disdain the justice system. In brief account under his leadership in New Democracy, he stressed that the party was not using populism to gain approval and was speaking the truth to those who had honoured him in the party elections. ‘We put the party’s finances in order and changed our articles of association. We have started deliberation for a new program platform’, he said. The leader of New Democracy said the political landscape of the country was changing with the lead of New Democracy strengthening. ‘The majority of people believe we will be the next government’, he said.
