The Greek government is ‘betting’ a lot on the 246 million Euros earned from the TV licenses for the Prime Minister’s appearance in Thessaloniki’s International Fair.
The conversation on what the revenue collected from the tender will be earmarked for is at the center of the meetings between Ministers and Staff from the Maximus Megaron, so that Alexis Tsipras will announce a package of relief measures during Thessaloniki’s International Fair on the weekend.
The big issue is where the money will go to over the next two years and who will benefit from it.
Te government hopes to send a clear message that the money will be paid by the four new TV license holders.
Moreover, the government wants to bypass the opposition party New Democracy’s arguments that the it can’t direct money that have been counted as an income in the QE program to actions of its choice.
Decisions on the measures package are expected to be taken at the very last moment, before the Prime Ministers gives his speech in Thessaloniki.
