Rumours that US President Barack Obama could be visiting Greece, on an official 2-day visit on November 14-15 spread late Monday. Although the news of his visit to Athens has not been confirmed, the US President might stop in Athens before travelling to the German capital, Berlin. The Greek PM’s office has also refrained from acknowledging the visit will go ahead, with an official source close to the US Embassy also telling Protothema.gr of the unconfirmed nature of Obama’s visit to Athens. An official announcement is expected to be released in the upcoming days, without any information as to whether the news of the visit will come out of Athens or the White House. The Greek government hopes Obama could offer strong support regarding the Greek debt relief, while if the visit does takes place the Cypriot problem and the Greek-Turkish relations are expected to be on the agenda.
