Ermou street in the centre of Athens is the 25th spot of the most expensive shopping streets in the world, according to an annual released by Cushman & Wakefield, an international property consultancy company. According to the data, it costs 2,340 euros per Sq/m to rent on Ermou St, which despite the financial crisis jumped two spots in the list from 2015. Ermou St. had peaked on the list in 10th place in 2006, while the report has a steady outlook for its rent cost. Retaining top spot as the most costly shopping street to rent on is New York’s Upper 5th Avenue, where someone has to fork out an whopping 29,065 euros per Sq/m! Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay, in second place, is also not recommended for the ordinary folks, as it costs 27,884 euros per Sq/m to rent, followed by Avenue des Champs Elysees in Paris with 13,255 euros and London’s New Bond Street at rate of 12,443 euros per Sq.m. Five of the top 20 spots are in European cities, with Kohlmarkt St. in Vienna wrapping up the top 10 at 4,460 euros per Sq/m. Cushman & Wakefield processes data from 426 shopping streets around the globe, while in this year’s 28th edition of its “Main Streets Across The World” study it has included all 71 most expensive streets in there world.
