Employees in the public health sector proceeded to build the main entrances of hospitals in the morning hours of Wednesday in protest against the Greek government’s policies. With chisel and trowel in hand members of the Panhellenic Association of Public Hospital Workers (POEDIN) started building a wall blocking off the main entrance of the building on Aristotelous street. “The Ministry is not necessary since decisions are coming from Brussels. Patients are dying on a daily basis. The only think left here is Mr. Polakis’s (Alternate Minister of Health) arrogance”, said Michalis Giannakos, President of POEDIN. He complained that the hospital staff has been cut by 7,500 since the government of SYRIZA-ANEL came to power. Their protests were done in the framework of industrial actions their union has planned for later Wednesday, which will include a gathering in front of the Health Ministry.
