The mayor of Chios Manolis Vournos, gave a solution to the electricity problem at the refugee hotspot, after his proposal was accepted unanimously by the city council.

This way the works for the upgrade of the electrical installation in the hotspot will commence at once and hundreds of families will finally be protected from the really low temperatures of the island.

It was noted, however, by the Mayor that the final increase of the power bill that will come as a result of the upgrade, should not be payed by the municipality.
