The Immigration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos and Immigration Minister Giannis Mouzalas are visiting together the Moria and Kara Tepe hot-spots in Lesvos.

The European Commissioner wants to see first hand the problems from the non-application of the EU-Turkish agreement and the problems created in the islands by the 10000 refugees and illegal immigrants trapped there.

Mr. Avramopoulos’ visit comes right after the problems caused by the extreme weather conditions of the previous weeks, as well as the agreement between the mayors of the five bigger islands of the eastern Aegean Sea to put pressure on the Greek government and the EU to lower the number of people accommodated in the islands and distribute them to the rest of the EU.
