The unemployment rate rose in December 2016 in comparison to last year over the same period, according to data released by the Greek Manpower Employment Organisation (OAED). The registered jobless amounted to 1,072,652, which is 24,991 more than the 1,047,661 a year earlier. Even in comparison to the previous month of November the number went up by 6,236. The figures showed that long-term unemployed amounted to 452,641, making up the 42,19% of the aggregate. More specifically, the registered unemployed stood at 910,468 in December, in comparison to 913,044 the previous month of 2016, a -0.28% shift. The rate registered unemployed not seeking for work rose 5.75% in December, compared to November of 2016.
