Turkey will submit a request for the extradition of the 8 military officers who defected to Greece after the failed coup attempt in Turkey anew, following the ruling by the Greek Supreme Court on Thursday that they would not be extradited. The 8 men were charged with with participating in a plot to overthrow the Erdogan government. According to Turkish newspaper “Hurriyet”, the new request is grounded on the Turkish arrests warrant issued by the Turkish prosecutor of Constantinople immediately after the Greek high court ruled against their extradition. The majority of Turkish media were reporting that the 8 men were on Interpol’s international wanted list. The Greek high court decided against sending them back to Turkey claiming their lives were in danger and that they would not receive a fair trial.
