After the loss of the painter Dimitris Mitaras, the renowned man of Art, Giannis Kounellis died in Rome at the age of 81, leaving a huge legacy behind him for the next generations.
The so-called “father” of Arte Povera was born in Piraeus in 1936 and since the age of 20 he has lived and worked in Italy, where he studied in the Academy of Fine Arts. Later on he became a professor in the Dusseldorf Fine Arts Academy. From the early ’60s he presented his own personal style that made him known and his art recognizable.
