Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the real owners of Cyprus were the Turkish-Cypriots during a speech in the US. The top Turkish diplomat expressed hope that the Turkish-Cypriot community would do it share to take advantage of the opportunity and solve the long-standing problem. He went on to stress that many chances had been lost for the solution of the Cypriot problem, blaming the Greek side for suspending talks in Geneva, which had started in February 2014, by excluding the will of Turkey. Mr. Cavusoglu claimed the Greek-Cypriot side still envisaged a union with Greece and did not accept that the Turkish-Cypriots were the rightful owners of the island.
