Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos attended an event by the Ekaterini Laskaridi Foundation to celebrate its ten-year anniversary and its contribution to highlighting Greek culture, on Monday.

The Foundation is holding an exhibition on new findings of the Antikythira wreck, a Roman-era ship sunk off the Peloponnese that has yielded significant sculpture such as the Antikythera youth and the “Antikythera Mechanism”, one of the earliest known mechanisms used for calculations in astronomy.

Pavlopoulos said the findings provided an excellent example of what history has proven, that Greece and its civilization will never disappear.
