Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras commented on the announced distribution of a benefit for unemployed youths on Saturday, describing it is “an act of social justice” and not a matter of sensitivity.
“The payment of the social dividend is not an act of sensitivity but of social justice. Our young are the more vulnerable to the pressures of the economic crisis, but they are also our hope for the future,” he said in a tweet.
“The youth solidarity allowance for OAED [unemployment office] subscribers along with the unemployment counseling programs announced today by the minister of labour represent our intention to bring hope to the foreground by investing in it,” he added.
