Ancient Rome is often praised (and rightly so) for its contributions to the western legal and governmental systems, as well its achievement to other disciplines like history and technological advances. But despite the legacy, the Romans left for our modern society, some of their everyday practices would be completely disgusting for us today. You will not believe what was considered “normal” or “acceptable” in ancient Rome. From brushing their teeth with pee to sharing a sponge after using the public toilettes, the Romans used to do some pretty “nasty stuff”, which makes us seriously reconsider the saying “When in Rome do as the Romans”. No thank you…I think I’ll pass…
