Olga Katsara, 18, was chosen as the Patra Carnival queen among a list of 24 applicants for the 2018 Greek Apokries (Halloween) celebrations. Out of the 24 applicants who expressed interest in the spot, the judges were impressed by the University student, who hails from Kalamata but has been living permanently in the city of Patra since 2000. She is a student at the Department of Public Administration at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and can speak English and French. She started dancing at the age of 4 and her repertoire includes classical ballet, modern and Latin dancing.
She has been a part of the parade crew for many years and she was one of the members of the Young Carnival, while she was one of the cheerleaders who opened the parade in the last four years.
This year’s carnival chariot that will carry the Queen is ready and depicts a marsh with frogs, lizards, and human tree.
