The owner of PAOK football club, Ivan Savvidis will stand trial before the singe-Judge Court of Misdemeanours in Thessaloniki over the events of last March, when he invaded the pitch in the match against AEK Athens brandishing a gun. The team manager of PAOK, Lubos Michel was also summoned to appear in court charged with illegal entry onto the grounds.
They are both facing penal prosecution for violation of the Athletic Law, following a preliminary investigation conducted by the prosecuting attorney. responsible for sports cases, Evangelia Liasou. Six other people, including members of the Mr Savvidis’s personal security and a police officer assigned to his personal security, will also stand trial.
After the outcry caused by his action and the global media attention, Mr Savvidis publicly apologised for his action.
