The bookmakers’ favourites for the Premier League (infographic)

Manchester City and Liverpool favoured by bookies to take title

Newsroom August 10 04:19

The 2018-19 Premier League will be kicked off this Friday when Manchester United play host to Leicester City. While Leicester won’t realistically be harbouring ambitions of staging a repeat of their extraordinary 2015-16 title win, United (despite manager Mourinho’s pre-season negativity) very much should have a 21st Premier League title firmly in their sights. According to the bookmakers though, there are two teams which have a better chance of taking home the spoils at this stage.

Defending champions Manchester City are the favourites with current average odds of 1.63. Liverpool, who followed up an impressive season with a big-spending and promising transfer window, are in second with 4.91. United’s odds are 8.61 while Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal are rather seen as outside chances in terms of the ‘big six’. As Leicester (current odds of 237.93) showed in 2015-16 though, anything can happen in the Premier League!
