One dead in training plane crash near Sparta

The co-pilot has been found

UPD: The pilot of a T-2 training aircraft has been found dead after the plane crashed between the cities of Kalamata and Sparta a little before 9 am on Tuesday.

The two aircraft operators, both majors in rank, used the automatic ejection mechanism and abandoned the T-2 before it crashed. The co-pilot alerted the Air Force authorities about his location, according to sources. An Agusta Bell helicopter of the Air Force has already taken him to Kalamata where he is undergoing medical examinations.

A T-2 training plane crashed shortly after 8:30 on Tuesday outside Tripoli on its way to Sparta.
