The Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Kotzias said the Prespa Agreement with FYROM on the name dispute will be ratified in Parliament at the end of January 2019.
During a joint press conference with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas in Athens Thursday, the top Greek diplomat estimated the process of constitutional reforms in FYROM would be completed by mid-January, thus paving the way for Greece to bring the deal to Parliament for ratification, while the body will also ratify the accession of FYROM in the NATO military alliance.
According to Mr. Kotzias, the agreement will be backed by ruling SYRIZA, the River party (Potami) and individual MPs.
“The Prespa Agreement is a solution that looks to the future of the region, the future of Europe, giving the Balkans stability and security while it upgrades the role of Greece”, Nikos Kotzias said in his statements with his German counterpart, Heiko May, following a meeting in Athens on Thursday.
