UPD: The suspect in the Kerch college terrorist attack has been identified as a 22-year old student. He committed suicide after killing 18 people and injuring dozens with gunfire and blast, the head of the Republic of Crimea has said.

UPDATE: Ten people were killed in the blast and at least 50 were injured.

Medics confirm 34 people have been hospitalized so far.

According to Russia’s National Anti-terrorist Committee (NAC), speaks of an unidentified explosive device.

There are reports of sounds of gunshots.

According to other reports, the explosion may be the result of a gas leak and not a terrorist act.

An explosion rocked a polytechnic college in Kerch, in the east of Crimea, on Wednesday, leaving a number of people dead and injured, a source in the local emergency services told TASS.

“The blast occurred this afternoon. There are deaths and injuries. Emergency services are heading to the accident scene,” the source said.

According to preliminary reports, gas cylinder exploded in college’s building.
