Two Greek bishops threaten to sue ERT reporter over comments their views reflected “extreme right” & Golden Dawn

The reporter apologised on her show

Newsroom November 20 05:22

Two Greek Orthodox Bishops plan to take legal action against journalist Katerina Akrivopoulou, who works for public broadcaster ERT, accusing her of calling them “extreme-right” and “Golden Dawn supporters”. Metropolitans of Messinia Chrysostom and Piraeus Seraphim have launched lawsuits against the reporter, who claimed on her current affairs TV show “Defteri Matia” that their views echoed opinions and views of the “extreme right opinions” and Golden Dawn.

The Metropolitan of Messinia issued a statement calling the reporter’s views about him “extremely offensive”, urging her to present the content of his opinions and views, or else he would exercise all his legal rights unless she rectified her views in her show.

The metropolitan of Piraeus also announced that he would be seeking legal recourse against ERT and Mrs. Akrivopoulou, also making reference to the Greek National Council for Radio and Television (ESR).
In the latest development and in light of a possible lawsuit, the reporter issued an apology on her TV show, claiming her comments were a result of her suffering from a fever.
