UPDATE: Dutch police released a photo of a 37-year-old man, believed to be the shooter, advising people to avoid him. The man, who is of Turkish descent, is still at large. Police tweeted a photograph of the suspect named Gökman Tanis, who was born in Turkey.
UPDATE: The National Anti-Terrorism Coordinator (NATC) said it raised the terrorism threat level to 5 in all of Utrecht area, the highest for the emergencies of this kind as shooting “appears to be a terrorist attack”.
The attack seems to be linked with the New Zealand massacre.
The alert will be in place until at least 18:00 local time.
All schools in the wider area have been locked down for security reason with all students inside.
One person has been confirmed dead.

Several people have been injured in a tram in Utrecht, Netherlands, when an unknown man opened fire against them.
Utrecht police has announced that authorities have secured a square in a tram station outside the city center, while emergency services are on the scene.
The incident occurred at 10:45 am Monday (local time).
According to Dutch media, a man on the tram took out a gun and shot against several passengers.
The wounded have been transported by ambulances to city hospitals, although no total number has yet been announced.
