Wolves ask UEFA to postpone match against Olympiakos after Greek club’s owner tested positive for coronavirus

The Greek club have sent their players for tests

Newsroom March 10 06:18

Wolves have called for their Europa League last-16 tie against Olympiakos to be postponed. The Premier League giants made the request to UEFA after the Greek Super League club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis announced he had contracted coronavirus.

Although Olympiakos are not concrned, the club’s players are now being sent for tests to see if they have coronavirus.

Thursday’s clash at the Karaiskakis Stadium is set to take place behind closed doors because of the virus.

Confirming his positive test, Marinakis said: “The recent virus has visited me and I felt obliged to let the public know.

“I feel good as I take all the necessary measures and I discipline to the doctors’ instructions.

“I strongly advise all my fellow citizens to do the same. I wish all a quick recovery.”
